Economics Learning Opportunities

MSUM Political Science students are highly involved on campus and within the community. They embrace diversity, challenges, opportunities and unique learning experiences that continue to produce incredible results.

At MSUM, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in student organizations directly related to your major, attend and present at regional and national conferences, collaborate with professors on projects, gain hands-on experience through internships, help coordinate community service projects, and much more.

Internships are not required to complete your Political Science degree, but are an excellent way to gain experience and make connections within the community. Nearly 30 percent of students complete an internship. In doing so, you’ll gain real-world experience to enhance your resume and expand your career options. While most students intern in government offices, non-profits and businesses in the Fargo-Moorhead community, several have interned with government officials in Washington, D.C.

Students have completed internships with the following elected officials or organizations, among others:

  • Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D.
  • Former Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D.
  • Former Rep. Rick Berg, R-N.D.
  • Former Sen. Tim Johnson, D-S.D.
  • City of Moorhead
  • City of Fargo
  • KFGO
  • The Arts Partnership
  • Emergency Food Pantry

For more information on available internships, contact your academic advisor.
