Room Renewal

Room renewal is for students currently living in university housing and/or current MSUM students. During room renewal, students will select their roommate(s), meal plan, and either claim their same room or select a different room for the following academic year. To participate in any phase of the room renewal period, residents must have a complete 2024-2025 Housing & Dining contract.

In order to apply for housing online, you will need your StarID username and password.

Room Renewal Timeline

The 2024-2025 Room Renewal period opens January 16, 2024. No Lottery Application needed as students come/call in on a date based on their earned credits and select a room (see below). This can be a single, suite, apartment, etc. Students hoping to live in the John Neumaier apartments or Nelson Upperclass Singles must have earned 24 credits by June 1 (not while dual-enrolled during high school). Students selecting a John Neumaier apartment must have all four residents selected or plans to buy out the apartment as a triple or double-as-a-single. In 2021, we rolled out a Returning Special Incentive and it was so popular we are doing it again! That means we are waiving the $50 prepayment and letting current students lock in next year at the 2023-2024 Room Rate! Learn more and to apply for our Returner Special. Take advantage of your time to select a room as they fill fast and are filled in a first-come, first-served format.

June 5

INCOMING LEARNING COMMUNITY STUDENTS
Incoming Dragons who are participating in a Learning Community and have completed Roommate Groups will be assigned in their Learning Community. This will reduce the amount of vacant spaces, so don't delay in claiming your room for next year!

July 1 - August 17

UNFILLED ROOMS
After July 1, 2024, the Housing Office will place students in any vacant spaces based on their building and room type preferences. Students will be given information about their new roommate (if applicable) when they are assigned.
