Mental Health Services
Whether you’re struggling with coursework, experiencing relationship issues, concerned over drinking or drug use, or experiencing any other issue, our licensed and trained clinicians can help you navigate the tough times. MSUM Counseling Services is here to help balance the social, emotional and educational pieces of your life.
We offer free and confidential mental health, alcohol and drug, sexual assault and violence counseling. MSUM Counseling Services offers settings in which students may explore personal or academic concerns, makes referrals, and serves as a consultant for faculty and staff. Licensed and trained mental health counselors understand the issues students face and offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment for getting you on track to achieving your personal and academic goals.
Appointments are recommended, though same-day care may be available when needed.
The MSUM Counseling Center fully supports Safe Space on campus, and pledges to be confidential, non-judgmental and supportive contacts for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex or asexual (LGBTQIA) members of the MSU Moorhead community.
No client information is released to anyone outside the Center, including other college offices, faculty, or parents without clients' written consent. Limits to confidentiality include the following:
- Counselors are required by law to report cases of suspected child abuse.
- Counselors may disclose information when deemed necessary to protect a client or others from imminent danger.
- Information may be released when required by court order.
- Counseling Center staff members may share information with each other for the purposes of consultation and training.
