Best-of business owner models caring community engagement

Saad Janjua ‘18 understands that every household has unique financial needs and every community needs distinctive, dedicated leadership. As owner/agent at Janjua Insurance & Financial Services (State Farm), Saad has tailored insurance solutions to protect health, home, vehicles and lives – safeguarding what matters most to families.

With communications studies and international studies degrees from Minnesota State Moorhead, Saad used his business expertise to ensure optimum functionality of $90+ million of assets for Target Corporation before launching his insurance business, which became BusinessRate’s Best of 2024 in Moorhead, Minn., and was nominated for the 2024 Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber Choice Awards in both the Small Business of the Year and People’s Choice Award categories.

Saad is most proud of his dedication to his employees and community. In recognition of his support for a veteran employee serving in the Army National Guard, he received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award on Jan. 21, 2025, and now volunteers with the organization. He supports local shelter Churches United, sponsors the Moorhead High School girls’ basketball team, provides back-to-school gift cards for local teachers, and volunteers for Homeward Animal Shelter, the YMCA, Fargo Pack and the Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity. Saad also speaks to students at Minnesota State Moorhead and Central Lakes College in Brainerd.

“I believe impact is measured not just by large-scale contributions but also by the small, consistent efforts to uplift those around us,” he says.

Becoming a U.S. citizen in June 2024 was a meaningful milestone in Saad’s life. “I take immense pride in being officially recognized as a U.S. citizen, he says. “It represents not just a legal status, but a commitment to the values and opportunities that make the country I love so special. It’s a testament to my journey, which I largely attribute to my time at Moorhead.”

Saad is also being recognized with the MSUM Foundation’s 2025 10 Under 10 Award for his determination to persistently improve as a business owner and community contributor.
