Welcome to the #DragonFamily: Jacqueline Stamatopoulos

Jacque Stamatopoulos is MSUM’s new Graduate Student Retention Coordinator.

Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: I wanted to keep working with graduate students like in my previous job but in a more organized and team-oriented environment. MSUM was the right fit for me. I like the people, the atmosphere, and the team.

Q: Do you have any previous/other connection(s) to MSUM?
A: My father worked in the Art Department. He was a professor of fine arts, teaching watercolor, acrylics, and art education.

Q: How do you prefer to start your work day?
A: I spend a few minutes with colleagues, check emails and have my coffee.

Q: What energizes you outside of work?
A: Walking my dogs since they are a big part of my life, working in the yard and chatting with my daughter in California.

Q: What’s one thing people might not know about you?
I am an artist, a painter. I do textile arts. I have been doing that for years, I love it. I just finished an art show with a friend who is a local artist and I used to own and be a partner of an art gallery.

Q: What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
A: Be patient and listen. I think listening to people and really understanding different points of view is important. My mom used to say and practice that a lot.
