Historical Sketch

The American Legion Auxiliary of Minnesota was organized November 1920. This women’s patriotic organization was organized to promote Americanism, community service, national defense, and child welfare. The Ninth District is made up of fifty units in northwestern Minnesota. The annual poppy sale funded many of their community service projects, such as sponsoring a crippled children’s clinic, Christmas gifts, transportation funds for rides to the hospital and many more. 

Collection Description

The records of the Ninth District of the American Legion Auxiliary are arranged in chronological order. American Legion Auxiliary bulletins, meeting minutes, summaries of Americanism activities are included in these records. The volume consists of an American Legion Auxiliary handbook, a scrapbook (1932 newspaper clippings), annual reports, convention programs and reports.
