MSUM Scholarship Day

MSUM is excited to welcome students and their guests to MSUM Scholarship Day! Join us for a day filled with exploring campus, meeting faculty and staff, and scholarship auditions and interviews.
- Students will participate in individual interviews or auditions with small faculty and staff member panels.
- Students and guests will join campus tours and speak with staff from Admissions, Financial Aid, and Housing & Residence Life.
- Students and guests are invited to join the President’s Luncheon to connect with current students, faculty, and staff.

Check-in at the Comstock Memorial Union any time before the scheduled audition/interview. - Department Check In | Located in each College
After checking in at the CMU, Students will be escorted to their audition or interview location by Admissions staff. - Interviews and/or Auditions & Department Tours
Students will have interviews and/or auditions with faculty panelists from their program. Specific timeslots will be assigned upon registration and sent via email. - Campus Tours | CMU Sun Garden Lounge
Optional campus tours will leave every 30 minutes from the CMU Sun Garden Lounge. - Information Time | CMU
Visit with staff from Admissions, Financial Aid & Scholarship, and Housing & Residence Life.

Paseka School of Business Scholarship Applicants:
- Students will take part in a 10-minute interview with faculty panelists from the Paseka School of Business.
- Each participant will receive a $500 scholarship with additional winners receiving up to $36,000.
- Business casual attire is recommended.
Audio Production & Entertainment Management Scholarship Applicants:
- Students will take part in a 10-minute interview with faculty panelists from the Entertainment Industries program.
- Students will tour the studios and facilities and learn more from the faculty.
Music Scholarship Applicants:
- Arrive well-dressed with your instrument and music.
- Be sure to arrive early enough to warm-up so that you can be ready to play your best.
- For your audition, select music that demonstrates you “at your best.” If you aren’t sure where to start, All-State etudes and Solo and Ensemble music selections are typically appropriate. If you’re applying for a Commercial Music scholarship, an original composition and/or a cover tune might be your best option (feel free to bring a recording to perform along with if you choose). If you’re still in doubt, speak with your band/choir director for guidance or contact the MSUM School of Performing Arts, and we can provide recommendations to help guide you in the process.
- Students not bringing their own accompanist for vocal auditions, may request MSUM to provide an accompanist. Sheet music must be submitted to spa@mnstate.edu on or before Friday, February 14, 2025. Instrumental auditions, do not require an accompanist and will not have an accompanist available through MSUM, but students are encouraged to bring their own accompanist if desired.
- Students may bring to Scholarship Day a pre-recorded accompaniment. It must be brought with by the student to Scholarship Day on a device that has Bluetooth sharing capability so that we can connect it to a provided Bluetooth speaker.
President’s Scholarship Applicants:
- Students with a 4.0 high school GPA or 32 or higher ACT are eligible.
- Students will take part in a 10-minute interview with 1-2 staff panelists.
- Business casual attire is recommended.
- Please be ready to share your educational goals, experiences that have prepared you to succeed, and/or your plans for success at MSUM.
Tom and Adrienne Bahr Endowed Scholarship Applicants:
- Students who declared a major in a humanities field and remains so for the duration of the scholarship. MSUM Humanities majors include:
- English, History, Humanities, Social Studies with a History Emphasis, Social Studies with an Anthropology Emphasis, Women’s & Gender Studies, Art History, Film Studies, Anthropology
- Eligible students will take part in a 10-minute interview with faculty panelists from Humanities.
- Please be ready to share why you chose your major and what you hope to do with it.
- Business casual attire is recommended.
Tips for success:
- Be prepared to share about yourself and your experiences.
- Dress for success, business casual recommended.
- If interviewing, bring any questions that you may have pertaining to the program.
- Enjoy, have some fun, and be confident!
