RN to BSN Learning Opportunities
MSUM’s curriculum strategically builds on the associate’s nursing education and your current RN practice base. You will receive the most current and essential curricula for baccalaureate-level nursing education and practice, with a focus on emerging healthcare issues/trends, evidence-based practice, population-focused practice, leadership, and systems-thinking for impacting quality and safety outcomes in healthcare.
MSUM strives to give you important, real-world application of critical concepts in your baccalaureate nursing education. You'll complete applied and experiential learning experiences online and in your geographical area. Upon completion of the undergraduate nursing program, you are eligible for the Minnesota Board of Nursing Public Health Nursing certification.
MSUM recognizes the hard work nurses do for our community. To remind MSUM nursing program students and alumni of why they do what they do, we encourage others to nominate the MSUM nurses they know for awards like the Outstanding Nursing Alumni Award and the DAISY Award for Extraordinary MSUM Nursing Students.
MSUM is active in Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing. The organization supports nurses throughout their careers with continuing education, nursing publications, nursing research and scholarship opportunities. If you meet the high criteria for membership, you will be invited to join after completing at least half of the coursework.
Membership supports your professional development:
- Promoting scholarship
- Mentoring leadership
- Encouraging creativity
- Demonstrating commitment to nursing
- Providing access to resources
- Creating opportunities to interact with other colleagues
MSUM is a part of the Xi Kappa - Chapter at Large of Sigma Theta Tau International (MSUM, Concordia College, Jamestown College, North Dakota State University).

A study abroad experience will elevate your personal and professional growth while developing cultural sensitivity required to provide highly efficient patient-centered care. In a study tour group, you’ll get a unique opportunity to learn about healthcare delivery in international healthcare settings. These faculty-led experiences integrate a global perspective of educational preparation, healthcare delivery and healthcare policy in an international environment. Faculty and students embark on international study experiences regularly, with additional opportunities continually being explored. Please contact the School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership for more information about the Dominican Republic and Ireland study abroad opportunities.
