Piano Ensemble
The MSUM Piano Ensemble is open to any MSUM student that has had some piano experience (i.e. piano lessons) in their background. The ensemble performs a concert once a semester, featuring different types of music including classical, Broadway, jazz, and movie arrangements by performing in piano duets, duos, trios and quartets. Other performance opportunities include performing in the annual Winter Celebration of the Arts and at local off-campus venues.
High School Auditions for Piano Ensemble
The MSUM Piano Ensemble gives high school students the opportunity to participate in a college ensemble. Auditions are open for students in grades 10-12 to be a part of a MSUM Piano Ensemble Concert. Students who pass the two-step audition process will get the chance to play alongside MSUM college students and/or faculty in the Fall 2024 concert on Sunday, October 27 at 4 pm in Fox Recital Hall.
Step One
- To audition, applicants should prepare a piece that represents their abilities as a pianist (memorization is not required) and submit an unedited video performance by uploading to YouTube.
- Send the video link and application to Dr. Amy Mercer by Friday, September 6, 2024. If accepted, the applicant will be assigned a part to practice and move on to step two.
Step Two
- Screening with a lesson on the assigned part to be held on or before September 27, 2024. This can be done via Zoom or in person at MSUM.
- If the applicant passes the screening, they will need to commit to three rehearsals, including the dress rehearsal which is TBA and the concert on Sunday, October 27 at 4 pm.
- The other two rehearsals will be scheduled at a time to fit the participant’s schedule after the screening is passed.
