Dr. Stumphf is an Assistant Professor of Accounting for the Paseka School of Business (PSB) at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) degree from Creighton University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from North Dakota State University. Prior to earning the DBA and MBA degrees, Dr. Stumphf received a Bachelor of Science degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead, double majoring in accounting and finance. In addition to his academic achievements, he has extensive professional education and experience that have led to professional licensures and certifications. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in multiple states, a Certified Fraud Examiner by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE), an Accredited Senior Appraiser in business valuation by the American Society of Appraisers (ASA-BV), and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Beyond these credentials, Dr. Stumphf has completed specialized training in mediation and arbitration procedures, real estate and equipment appraisal, and merger and acquisition advising. His professional experience is primarily focused on business valuation, forensic accounting, and economic damage analysis, including expert witness testimony in Federal and State courts. Dr. Stumphf has authored over one thousand consulting and expert reports for various purposes, covering a wide range of industries, and prepared for businesses as small as local sole proprietorships up to as large as multimillion-dollar international corporations. His research interests are cross disciplinary, but center around accounting and finance concepts that impact real world decisions. Dr. Stumphf’s teaching experience spans a wide range accounting and finance courses, taught in both academic and professional settings. Courses he has taught are within audit, taxation, forensic accounting, managerial accounting, financial accounting, accounting systems, entrepreneurship, corporate finance, investment, business valuation, financial modeling, and risk management topical areas. Dr. Stumphf currently serves as the chair of the PSB Assurance of Learning Committee, is a faculty advisor, and coordinates the accounting club and VITA program.
