Global Health, Diversity & Inclusion in Healthcare Certificate

MSUM’s Certificate in Global Health, Diversity and Inclusion in Healthcare will prepare you to develop cultural humility by exploring challenges and opportunities in diverse healthcare settings. The certificate pulls specific courses from already existing Undergraduate Nursing and Healthcare Management & Leadership programs currently offered at MSUM, as well as a Sustainability course. This interdisciplinary approach focuses on disease prevention and health promotion globally, with an emphasis on building an equitable healthcare workforce.

The Certificate in Global Health, Diversity and Inclusion in Healthcare is designed for nurses, non-clinical healthcare leaders/students, students from business and health related majors who have an interest in exploring international health problems and a desire to develop and implement strategies to promote health locally and globally.

  • Describe global health challenges and ways in which globalization has influenced disease patterns and health promotion.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of skills and resources required to promote global health initiatives.
  • Analyze specific international health problems and different factors that influence decision making at regional, national, and global levels.
  • Identify challenges and opportunities of building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable healthcare workforce.
  • Develop cultural humility and awareness of health disparities.
  • Describe the role of leadership that can lead to reduction in biases, prejudices, and enhance psychological safety in healthcare teams.
