Minnesota State Moorhead media relations promotes points of pride and engages our community while celebrating and supporting the university. We strive to build strong connections with our local and regional media partners and value the mutually beneficial relationships between the university and news organizations. Our goal is to respond to your inquiries quickly and accurately.

Referencing MSUM

Correct ways to reference Minnesota State Moorhead:

  • Minnesota State Moorhead (preferred on first reference)
  • Moorhead (on second reference)
  • Minnesota State University Moorhead (official name of university; no comma or hyphen)
  • MSUM is an abbreviation that may be used when the number of characters is limited (such as on a scoreboard or in a social media handle)
  • Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons
  • Dragons
    • MSU Moorhead and MSU Moorhead Dragons are previous monikers that are still trademarked, but not the current preference of the university.

Use the Dragon logo when referring to athletic programs and the M word mark for all other topics related to Minnesota State University Moorhead.

News Media Parking Permit

Our media partners are welcome to the Moorhead campus to cover a story. Your marked company vehicles can park in all general or metered lots without risk of being ticketed. If you will be on campus in an unmarked vehicle, please contact marketingteam@mnstate.edu to get a day pass.
