The Soroptimist Club of Moorhead, Minnesota, was chartered in 1949 and became part of the Soroptimist International of the Americas Federation. Meaning "best for women," the Soroptmists of Moorhead mission statement is to "improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world enabling them to take control of their lives and live their dream." Over the years, they have worked by themselves and with other service clubs to aid the needy on the community level and to also work for the advancement of women. The Moorhead club in recent years has concentrated on aiding the handicapped and the elderly and developed several projects towards helping them, most notably the “Funland Project.”
