Music Education
The Music Education program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in teaching vocal or instrumental music in a public school setting. You’ll learn to share your love of music with students from kindergarten to grade 12, and enhance your personal performance skills through the comprehensive coursework.
Joining one of our 11 vocal and instrumental ensembles will broadly expand your performance repertoire and help you build relationships with your classmates and professors. This hands-on experience is a wonderful opportunity for practical, personal growth.
By adding an extra semester of classes, you can earn your music education licensure plus a certificate in musical theatre, jazz or music technology. These certificates will set you apart from other applicants in your job search

Pursuing film composition with perfect pitch and plenty of instruments
Sierra is an MSUM senior majoring in commercial music and entertainment industries and technology. She can play the euphonium, bassoon, tenor sax, violin, guitar, trumpet, French horn, clarinet, keyboard, string bass and more. On her way to becoming a film composer, Sierra is a multi-talented performer who continually embraces new challenges in the realm of music.

Brandon Van Den Eykel, a Curriculum and Instruction graduate student at MSUM, will be an instructor for this summer's OAKE-certified Kodály program after feeling the impact of the program on his own career.
